I built Salary Almanac because most salary websites give you one number and pretend that’s the answer. But what a job pays depends a lot on where you live, your experience, and where you actually sit in the pay distribution. Salary Almanac is my attempt to make that data more useful. It brings together public salary statistics across hundreds of occupations and cities, so you can see the full range of what people earn — not just an average. It’s for anyone comparing careers, negotiating a salary, considering a move, or simply wondering what their work is actually worth. I built it because this data already exists. It just deserved a better way to explore it.
